Tripti Dimri, a Bollywood actress who made her acting debut in the movie Poster Boys that came out in 2017 which led up to her debut as a main lead in the romantic drama film Laila Majnu in 2018 where she played the role of a playful flirt stuck in an abusive marriage and later then reconciles with her former lover. She is well famed for her roles in movies such as Qala (2022), a film based on a complicated mother-daughter relationship, as they both navigate life filled with a child’s innate need for parental validation. Bulbul(2020), is a horror film centring around a village that is under the Bengal Presidency. Dimri is now the talk of the town for her supporting role in the new Bollywood Blockbuster Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, she plays the role of Zoya a grieving fiancé who ends up having an affair with the film’s central lead Vijay plays by Ranbir Kapoor.
In a recent interview, Tripti was questioned about her experience working on the film and how she prepared herself for her character and certain scenes. One of the more renowned scenes the actress was a part of in the film included an intimate scene with Ranbir Kapoor. While talking about the pre-production behind the scenes of shooting the scene she explains how the process occurred and the measures the crew and cast took to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. The acting sequence involved a scene with fully frontal nudity between the actors. The actress went on to describe the filming process for that particular scene and added “There were only four people on the set, Me, Ranbir, Sandeep sir, DoP Amit Roy” talking about creating a safe and comfortable set for her.
Dimri told the interviewer about how she prepared for the character after receiving her script, “The day he offered the film to me, Sandeep sir had honestly told me that ‘hey this is the scene I have in mind it won’t be vulgar as I want it to be more aesthetically shot’” while making sure she was comfortable. Dimri recalls the many discussions that happened leading up to the shoot of the scene and how that played out “There were many discussions that happened before we shot the scene” she adds. She remarked comparing her other intimate scene experience in her film Bulbul calling the rape scene “more traumatic” She also talks about being an actor and giving every scene “your 100 per cent” and how when an actor signs a project they are completely aware of what they are getting into.
On the topic of an actor’s experience in filming an intimate scene and the logistics behind it leading up to the flawless scene the audience witnesses on the big screens Tripti concluded “Safe sets are the most important. I was told that the set is closed and if I felt the need to stop, I could say cut as well. That is what gave me immense confidence”.
