Many journalists were left speechless when she said about the dreams a family has for it’s daughter and how those dreams were turned to ashed after her sister’s demise. Many times she broke down in the office of a senior police officer.

What happened with Mona Yadav two years back?

In 2014 , Mona Yadav got a job in Delhi Police where she met Surendra Rana. Rana was married at that time but he allegedly proposed to Mona for marriage. After she turned down his proposal , he murdered Mona in 2021 ,when she was only 27 year old. After he choked her to death , two of his brothers-in-law helped Rana to cover up the murder.

A woman whose identity cannot be disclosed, said that Mona was the youngest of three sisters and they lived in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh. Their father used to work as a sub-inspector with UP police.Unfortunately he died of a bullet injury in 2011. She added that Mona was a brilliant student and her father wanted her to become an IAS officer. After her father’s death , she was reluctant to make his dream come true.

The sister also said that Rana used to come home. Mona had gotten a job in UP police back then before she moved to Mukherjee Nagar to prepare for civil services examination. Rana used to call her ‘beta’ and took care of her so the family never suspected any wrong intention of him. Mona then went missing in 2021.

In October 2021 , Mona’s sister along with Surendra Rana , filed a missing complaint of her sister at Mukherjee Nagar police station.

Rana , in order to cover up his crime, started convincing Mona’s family that she was alive but she didn’t want her family to contact her. One of his brother-in-law Rabin used to call Mona’s family with a fake identity of Arvind and told them that Mona had married but they were in hiding because of opposition to the marriage by his family.

The accused even used to send Mona’s family audio recordings where he asked her to return home. He also had some of the audio clips in Mona’s voice and then edited those clips to add his voice and manipulate her family into believing this drama played by him.

He also got a woman vaccinated from Covid and got the certificate on Mona’s name to further manipulate them into believing his lies.

“We were suspicious. Why wasn’t Mona speaking to us? She was an educated woman and we had never stopped her from doing anything,” said her sister.

Eight months went by after she filed the missing complaint but the truth only came out when Mona’s sister met Sanjay Arora ,a Delhi Police Commissioner. The case was then transferred to the crime branch which cracked the whole case within two months.

The victim’s sister has requested strict punishment for the accused murderer Surendra Rana and has also asked them to recover Mona’s remains so the family can perform her last rites.
