TV Actor Rituraj abodes to heaven at the age of 59

Versatile actor Rituraj Singh passed away at the age of 59 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 due to cardiac arrest. The news of his death is a great shock for the industry, his family and fans. Many celebrities and his close friends have paid him a tribute.

Rituraj Singh‘s demise

Reportedly, Rituraj was admitted to a hospital due to some stomach and pancreatic disease, However, he got discharged a few days ago. His close friend, Amit Behl, disclosed that the actor died around 12:30 AM at his house, following a cardiac arrest. His last rites will be performed tomorrow by his family. 

A peek into Rituraj’s life and career

Rituraj Singh, born on May 23, 1964, in Kota, Rajasthan, hailed from a Rajput family. His early education led him to Delhi, and later, at the age of twelve, he returned to India from the United States. In pursuit of his acting career, he made a significant move to Mumbai in 1993, where he settled down and embarked on his journey in the entertainment industry. Over the years, Singh has showcased his talent across various platforms, earning recognition and appreciation for his performances in television serials and films.

He has been working in the Hindi film cinema since 1988. Rituraj has appeared in several movies such as “Badrinath Ki Dulhania” (2017), “Satyameva Jayate” (2021) , “Miss Beatty’s Children” (1992), “Vash- Possessed by the Obsessed” (2023), “Yaariyan 2” (2023) and many others.

Despite his appearance in several hit movies, he is vividly known for his work on television. He hosted a television game show “Tol Mol Ke Bol” in 1993 that was broadcasted on ZeeTV. Singh has played roles in some other shows like “Ghar Ek Mandir” (2000), “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii” (2004), “Diya Aur Baati Hum” (2011), “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” (2019), “Bandish Bandits” (2020) and others.

Besides these, Rituraj has appeared in a few episodes of CID (2009), Adaalat (2010) and Aahat (2015) as well. He was a cast member of the very acclaimed television series “Anupamaa” in India prior to his death.

Following the passing of Rituraj Singh, numerous personalities from the entertainment industry and beyond have expressed their condolences, reflecting the impact and respect he garnered throughout his career. Colleagues, friends, and fans have taken to social media platforms to share their heartfelt messages, reminiscing about his contributions and mourning his loss.

Manoj Bajpayee said, “Ritz, how can this be real? Why? What terrible news to receive when you wake up! Peace be with you, my friend Rituraj! Om Shanti.” Film Director Vivek Agnihotri wrote on X, “How on earth did you manage to make it happen, Rituraj, my friend? Kitna baaki tha… Artists are immortal.”

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai co-star Mohsin Khan said that he would miss Riuraj’s voice. Actor Arshad Warsi posted, “I am deeply grieved to learn of Ritu Raj’s demise. He was in my first film as a producer, and we shared an apartment. Lost a wonderful performer and a friend. I shall miss you, bro.”
