The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has initiated an emergency tender for Mpox vaccines to assist countries in crisis. This program aims to secure and swiftly deliver vaccines to regions with high demand, responding to the growing impact of the disease worldwide, particularly in Africa.
What’s more, UNICEF does not work on this alone: country governments are directly involved in the provision of health services hence play an instrumental role in implementing this policy. The organization has teamed up with Africa CDC, Gavi vaccine alliance, and the World Health Organization (WHO) in tackling the problem. The neighbouring country of Burundi has registered more than 150 cases, which speak of the spread of the disease.
