US Presidential Race: US President Attacks Trump in Speech

0

During his recent speech in Arizona, America’s President attacked former president Trump by saying he is a menace to US democracy.

Here’s what the US President said:

Criticizing the 2016 slogan of the former president for the presidential election, America’s President said, “There’s something dangerous happening in America right now… There’s an extremist movement (Make America Great Again) that does not share the basic beliefs of our democracy.” He also added, “Their extreme agenda, if carried out, would fundamentally alter the institutions of American democracy as we know it.”  The president also said that the former president is a threat to America’s democracy and he is more interested in personal gains.

The President also said, “There is no question that today’s Republican Party is driven and intimidated by MAGA (Make America Great Again) extremists.” The President also added, “They (MAGA extremists) are the enemy of the people.” The attack was mainly made on the slogan ‘Make America Great Again,’ which was used by the former president in the 2016 race for president. The whole speech in Arizona was focused on what he (the President) sees as challenges to democracy.

Is the President’s position strengthening amidst Trump’s indictment?

The sharp attack and warning by the President was a much more forceful attempt to hit the former president for his antidemocratic behavior, as the former prez was charged and is facing an indictment for misuse of power and attempting to subvert 2020 election results. Through the former president’s slogan of ‘Make America Great Again’ and the recent indictment of Trump, the President is using the former president’s own actions against democracy and words against him.

The president said that Trump was guided not by the Constitution or decency, but by “vengeance and vindictiveness.” To remind you, the former president is the first to be impeached and to face criminal charges in America’s history of Presidents. An Atlanta-based grand jury on August 14, 2023, indicted the former president based on charges of efforts to overturn his 2020 electoral defeat. The indictment against the former prez seems to benefit the president in the campaign.

This is a time for the President to solidify his position as a nominee for the presidential elections in 2024. Amidst all these indictments and allegations, the former president is fighting a battle on both sides as a nominee for presidential elections and on alleged charges, and at the same time, he continues to be the face of the Republicans.

President’s concerns ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections

Like the former president, the President also has some things to worry about. The President’s political future looks uncertain as a result of the ongoing concern about his age, which is 80 years, criticism of his handling of the presidency, and some accusations against Hunter, his son are some concerns. The biggest concern for the President is the ongoing impeachment inquiry against him. The first hearing was conducted by the House of Republics yesterday.

The first impeachment hearing by the House of Representatives was held yesterday, September 28, in which the House of Republicans did not provide any evidence of wrongdoing by the President. But the House of Republicans did provide the evidence they gathered about the foreign business ventures by the president’s son, Hunter.

From their respective houses, both the President and the former president are running for the Presidential Elections in 2024. Besides these two candidates mentioned, there’s no big name like them for the upcoming presidential elections. Campaigns for elections have already started, and both candidates are looking to solidify their positions for the elections.
