The phone conversation between the two comes after Anthony Blinken who’s the US Secretary had embarked on a visit to the Middle East which had concluded on Tuesday without any consensus between Israel and Hamas.

Blinken and other peacemakers from Egypt and Qatar have nailed their hopes on a US based plea which focuses on reducing the gaps between Israel and Hamas in the ongoing 10-month conflict between the two sides.

White House statement:

The White House released a statement after the conversation and said that the US President had spoken with the Israeli PM to discuss the peace deal, the release of hostages and also tactical efforts to de-escalate tensions between the both sides. The White house has also said that they will divulge more details later in the day.

Even before the phone conversation took place, the US official said that it is expected from the US President to pin Netanyahu to tone-down on a new demand of Israel that they will be permitted to keep the security forces along a land corridor between Egypt and Gaza.

Peace-deal a priority for Biden:

For the US President, sealing the Israel-Gaza peace deal is of prime importance. A senior official from the US also said that mediation talks are close to sealing a deal but the final agreement between the two have been painfully evasive.

Israel v/s Gaza over corridors:

Amid the talks happening for ceasefire to end the 10-month old war, Hamas is pushing towards complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza which also includes the Philadelphi corridor which is narrow 14.5 km long (which is 9 mile long) which is a stretch of land by the side of coastal enclave’s southern border with Egypt.

However, Israel wants to have dominance of the corridor which was taken by them in the May end after they had demolished dozens of tunnels which were under by telling that it was used to smuggle the weapons to the militant group of Gaza.

The mediation talks were conducted in Doha regarding the Israel-Hamas war, last week.  The peace-talks were halted and were slated to be resumed next-week. The mediators will make an attempt to reach an agreement to end the war between the two sides and also to ensure that the remaining hostages are released safely.

Egypt, Qatar and the United States had released a joint statement and divulged the details that the latter had presented a Gaza proposal on Friday. This proposal aims to address the remaining gaps, also allowing for the smooth implementation and also aligning with the principles which are outlined by the US President in the later part of May.

The truce talks were described as optimistic and constructive while also bringing in a proposal to both sides and deliberating to work on implementing it.

Hamas did not take part in the recent talks which were held in Doha though they had also casted doubts about the possibility of reaching an agreement. The militant group claimed that the fresh proposal differs a bit from the previous one which they were agreeing to accept thus implying that they might not agree to the recent one.
