Kajol’s mother and Veretan actress Tanuja Samarth has been hospitalized to Juhu hospital in Mumbai on Sunday evening.
On 18th December Sunday evening due to some age related issues Bollywood actress Tanuja, mother of Kajol and Tanisha and mother in law of Ajay Devgan has been admitted Juhu hospital in Mumbai. According to PTI reports Tanuja was admitted in ICU of a Juhu hospital and she is under observation and there is nothing to worry about and she is doing well.

Background of Tanuja
Tanuja Samarth, known as Tanuja is an Indian actress who has work in several Hindi and Bengali films. She is a part of Mukherjee -Samarth family, her father Kumarsen Samarth was a producer, her mother is Shobhna Samarth and she has one brother and three sisters Nutan.Her grandmother Rattan Bai who was also an actress. She got married to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee in 1973 and had two daughters Kajol and Tanisha. Kajol is married to Ajay Devgan Her husband passed away from a heart attack in 10th April, 2008. She is the aunt of filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee and actors Rani Mukherjee, Sharbani and Mohnish Behl.
She started her career with her older sister Nutan as Baby Tanuja in Hamari Beti in the year 1950 which was directed by her mother. Ten years later as an adult, she made her debut in the film “Chhabili” which was also directed by her mother. As a lead actress, she played the role of “Manorama” in the film “Hamari Yaad Aayegi”, directed by Kidar Sharma who had earlier launched Geeta Bali, Raj Kapoor and Madhubala.
Her noticeable film in the earlier career, directed by Shaheed Latif “Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi” (1966). For a spy film “Jawal Thief” she received her first filmfare awards as an supporting actress. Her next film with Dharmendra “Izzat” (1968), followed by a film with “Jeetendra: Jeene ki Raah (1969) was immediately hit. In Bollywood films like “Haathi Mere Sathi” (1971), “Do Chor” (1972), Mere Jeevan Saathi ( 1972), “Jeene ki Raah” (1969) boost her career in another level.
In 1960s she started her parallel career in Bengali films with “Memdidi”(1961), then with Uttam Kumar she worked in the film “Deya Neya”(1963) and followed it up with Rajkumari(1970), Anthony-Firingee (1967) Choo,Chhadmabeshi(1971). With Soumitra Chatterjee she worked in several films like Prothom Kadam Phool, Teen Bhuvaner Parey(1969).
In 1986, she appeared in a Sri Lankan Sinhalese film with Vijaya Kumaratunga. Her pairing with Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Uttam Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar became very popular in late 1960s and early 1970s. In 2013, at 20th life Ok award she received best actress award for a Marathi film Pitruroon, in 2014 Filmfare Life Time Achivement Award.
