Vicky Kaushal is once again making the rounds on social media, after captivating fans with his electric dance moves in the music video for ‘Tauba Tauba’. Sung by Punjabi artist Karan Aujla, the song is part of Vicky’s upcoming movie Bad Newz, along side Tripti Dimri, which is set to be released this Friday. Yesterday, he sat down for a candid chat on Raj Shamai’s podcast and discussed many things about his life, from his start in Bollywood, his love for Punjabi music and his marriage to Actor Katrina Kaif.

The success of ‘Tauba Tauba’
Talking about the internet sensation that the ‘Tauba Tauba’ video has become, Vicky said that “We were very happy how that song came together.” He gave credit to choreographer Bosco Martis for the snappy dance steps. He revealed that it took four days of rehearsals and a two-day shoot to master the choreography and get the final result.
Vicky first went viral for his moves last year when a clip of him dancing to ‘Obsessed’ by Riar Saab and Abhijay Sharma was circulating on social media. Then, he was seen grooving to Karan Aujla’s ‘Softly’, with fans admiring his charisma and effortless moves. When asked why he thinks he’s so popular for dancing on Punjabi tracks, Vicky said “I’m a sucker for Punjabi music.” He added that since he was a child, he has enjoyed listening to new Punjabi music with his brother (Sunny Kaushal). He recalled that whenever he would go back to his village in Punjab for the summer, he would get CDs with 100s of new tracks. Talking about his current favourite Punjabi artists, Vicky mentioned Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Aujla and the late Sidhu Moose Wala as his top picks.
How he met Katrina Kaif
Speaking about his first encounter with his now wife, Katrina Kaif, Vicky revealed he wasn’t nervous at all. He recalled, “We met at an award show. Nothing was planned, and the first time we spoke to each other was part of an interview, with the cameras on. Randomly we would just bump into each other. I think some things are just meant to happen.” When asked how he decided that he wanted to marry her, Vicky replied, “It’s just instinct, it’s just love, It’s what you feel.”
The couple tied the knot in 2021, in a beautiful ceremony that left fans in awe. Just yesterday, on Katrina’s 41st birthday, Vicky took to Instagram to celebrate his wife and shared adorable pictures of them together. After three years of marriage, Vicky said, “I feel we beautifully fill each other’s gaps because I am the more rational guy and she is more sensitive.”
How Vicky left his 9-5 job for acting
Vicky discussed his journey of leaving a 9-5 job to pursue acting, and how his parents reacted to his decision. He graduated with a degree in engineering and even had a job offer in hand. Vicky’s father is also linked to the film industry, as one of Bollywood’s most renowned action directors. However, knowing the unstable nature of jobs in the industry, his father was very happy that Vicky would lead a ‘stable’ life pursuing engineering. But, the actor had different ambitions, he admitted, “I was just being honest to myself, I knew that I can’t do a 9-5 (job).” He wanted to give acting a fair shot, stating that “I didn’t want to regret anything later in life.”
Vicky began his career in the industry by assisting Anurag Kashyap in the famous crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), revealing that he learnt a lot from being on set.
