Actor Vikram Kapadia Exposes the ‘Ego’ of Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films

The Night Manager,Kapoor & Sons,The Archies actor Vikram Kapadia made a bold move by calling out Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra’s production houses pay less to the actors.

The biggest production houses  i.e.Dharma Productions owned by Karan Johar and Yash Raj Films owned by Aditya Chopra is facing criticism.Both the production houses never compromised in their budget to make block-buster bollywood films.However,Vikram Kapadia who worked with both of them called out these production houses as ‘egoistic’,paying less to the actors in the name of ‘giving break.’

Vikram Kapadia has been seen working with these productions in many projects like The Archies,The Night manager starring Aditya Roy Kapoor,Made in Heaven,Yoddha.According to him,these two production houses pay less to the actors and have’ego’.In a conversation with Bollywood Now,he stated,”YRF and Dharma believes that they are the only one and the actor should feel lucky enough that at least we are paying you even if the pay is little less.’’He thinks that they have this sort of attitude with everyone working with them and thereby actors are a bit concerned.

He further added,that even if the pay is less but the payment is done on time.According to him,these two houses do not delay in their payments.Vikram Kapadia was paid well as a writer and what makes these production houses pay less is that they are giving a break to the actors.So,they pay less under the pretext of giving opportunities.

Karan Johar’s statement in Screen Magazine

Karan Johar,in an interview with Screen Magazine said,”The retinue cost is the least I worry about.The cost and payments of actors is something that I have to look into.’’He further added that the actors needs to understand the current state of the film industry and the challenges involved in making motion pictures,no matter their size or magnitude.

Adar Poonawala buys Dharma Productions acquisition

Dharma Productions,1976,established by Yash Johar now overseen by his son Karan Johar made a significant role in shaping Hindi cinema.However,earlier this week,Serum Institute of India’s CEO,Adar Poonawala bought 50% stake in Dharma Productions.Whereas,Karan Johar retains 50% and stays as Executive Chairman.Adar Poonwala invested ₹1000 crore in the Production House.

The investment comes at a crucial time for Dharma Productions, which has faced challenges with its recent releases.The last few Fridays have not been too good for Dharma, including Jigra.Following the investment,both Karan and Poonawala demonstrated their unity by arriving together at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali Bash.
