Vinesh won medals for the country in almost all the events. However, she has not yet won an Olympic medal. Haryana’s Dangal girl overcame that regret by reaching the final of the women’s 50 kg wrestling freestyle category. She will fight for gold today. Apart from securing Vinesh’s first Olympic medal, her win also ensured India’s fourth medal win in the current Olympics.

Vinesh Phogat’s astonishing performance

Vinesh has been performing amazingly in the Paris Olympics since the beginning. She surprised everyone by winning by 2/0 in the pre-quarter final against the four-time world champion and Tokyo Olympics gold winner Yui Susaki of Japan. Susaki had never lost an international wrestling match before. She was unbeaten in 80 consecutive matches. But she had to lose to an Indian wrestler.

Vinesh secured the medal contendership by defeating Ukraine’s Okasa Livach in the quarter-finals. This time in the semi-finals, the Cuban opponent was blown away by her too. Now she has only one goal- to win the final and secure the gold medal. If for some reason she doesn’t get gold, silver is guaranteed. It is not less glorious!

After winning the semi-final, she talked to her family members on video call crying with tears of joy, she promised her mother that she will return home after winning the gold.

Vinesh Phogat made India shine in Paris Olympics. After recovering from the injury, she raised the national flag of India on the stage of the Olympics. But there was a lot of doubt about whether she would go to the Olympics or not. Vinesh was one of the protestors against the sexual harassment of former BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. For that she had to suffer the sarcasm of the ocher camp. But it was Vinesh who made India proud by performing wonderfully on the Olympic stage.
