Rohit Sharma’s team after the victory parade through Marine Drive the Indian cricket team had a celebration at the Wankhede stadium. The entire Indian cricket team sang “Vande Mataram” along with the entire crowd in the stadium.

The wait of 13 years was over when team India lifted the world cup on the 29th of June 2024. Team India had won their last world cup in the year 2011 which was an ODI world cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

After the unlucky defeat at the 2023 ODI world cup against Australia the team and all the cricket fans in the country were disheartened. But all of those emotions vanished and a surge of happiness went throughout every cricket lover in the country when they saw Rohit Sharma lift up the T20 world cup. India had won the T20 world cup back in 2007 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Indian cricket team has created history by winning all the T20 matches in the T20 world cup 2024. 

After winning the world cup the Indian team was stuck in Barbados due to heavy storms. The media was covering all the updates from the team as the country was waiting for the team to bring the world cup back home. The team flew back to India on the 3rd of July and by AIC24WC an aircraft of Air India and landed in Delhi on the morning of 4th July 2024.

The team was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a private event at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The Indian Team was said to have had breakfast with the Prime Minister. After which they had a short conversation session and then they posed for the pictures together.

The team received a grand welcome at the Delhi airport and at the hotel ITC Maurya where they checked-in after landing. Fans had gathered around the airport and the hotel premises just to get a glimpse of their heroes. Reports claimed that there were fans who had booked rooms in the hotel two days prior to the team India coming back home to meet the team. The hotel had arranged for a T20 world cup winning themed cake for the team which they cut in front of the media.

Prior to the day of the arrival the skipper of the Indian team Rohit Sharma had posted on X and informed everyone that a victory parade will be conducted at the Marine Drive and later there would be celebrations at the Wankhede Stadium. The team would take an open bus tour from Nariman point to the Wankhede stadium. People started gathering around the Wankhede stadium and Marine Drive on the morning of 4th July. 

The Mumbai Airport was jammed with fans who were eagerly waiting for the arrival of the team and cheering for them and seeing the trophy for which they had waited for so many years. The scheduled timing for the bus tour was 05:00 pm but due to the massive crowd around the city and the traffic caused due to it the open bus tour began after 06:30 pm.

Mumbai fans did not disappoint, as a huge crowd of people was seen gathered at the Marine Drive raising slogans, singing and cheering for the team. During the bus tour the players showed the trophy for which they had worked so hard for. The emotions which the people had after seeing their team India could not be described in words.

The Mumbai police did an outstanding job managing the massive crowd at Marine Drive. They were quick with their moments and managed people efficiently. The bus took the player to the Wankhede stadium which was overcrowded eagerly waiting for the team. The stadium was the last stop for the team. They were greeted by a massive crowd cheering for them. Upon arrival at the Wankhede stadium Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli started dancing and the rest of the players followed them.

At the Wankhede stadium the BCCI felicitated the World Champion team India with a cheque of ₹125 crores, after which the team strolled around the stadium singing “Vande Mataram” along with the crowd. For Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli this was going to be the last T20 world cup as they have decided to retire from T20 format, which made this win a lot more emotional and important.

Virat and Rohit at Wankhede spoke about the importance of this world cup and also appreciated the team and certain players who they think gave all of their strength for this win. Rohit was the youngest player in the 2007 Dhoni T20 world cup squad and now at the age of 37 he had won the T20 world cup as the captain of the team. Rohit said the desperation for winning the cup was same for the team and the fans, this trophy has brought a smile on everyone’s face and it belongs to everyone.
