WhatsApp will soon allow users to add multiple accounts within the app, they are currently testing the new feature and is accessible to a limited number of beta users. It is available to those who have updated WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.17.8. It is expected that the new feature will be made available to all the users in the coming weeks.
Multiple Account Feature
Earlier, users who wanted to add multiple WhatsApp accounts had to clone the app through in-built app cloning feature or by downloading from Play Store and adding another account. The meta owned messaging app is now reportedly testing a new feature to eliminate the need of cloning the app. The new feature allows an individual to switch between primary account and other account, transitioning from one to another which will be very helpful for those who want to switch between two accounts such as their professional and personal one without any inconvenience.
The new feature will help users to use different accounts to chat and send texts according to their choice, they won’t need to log in or log out each time they want to use a different WhatsApp account and will also prevent users accidentally sending messages to someone from the wrong account.
Steps To Add Multiple WhatsApp Accounts On The Same Device :
To use this new feature, a user must have a smartphone that supports dual SIM cards and also a second phone number required to set up a new account. The process is hassle free and simple, follow the mentioned steps below :
- Open WhatsApp, then go to WhatsApp settings.
- Click on the arrow resting next to your name and choose the “Add account” option.
- Enter the second phone number and verify the same with an OTP/Code sent to you through SMS or via call.
- Once added, you can now switch between your primary and other accounts by clicking on the arrow next to your name and choosing the account you want to use.
Notification And Settings
Each account whether primary or other will have separate privacy and notification settings, which can be customized according to the users need and requirement. Notification alerts will be sent separately for each account and individuals can also delete chats, mute chats and groups or block someone for each account without affecting the settings of the other.
