WhatsApp’s New Update
WhatsApp is releasing a new update via the Google Play Beta Program, upgrading the version to 2.24.21.34. This update introduces a feature that allows users to select a chat theme from 20 different colors, now available to some beta testers.
Certain eligible accounts may already have access to the new chat themes feature, which has been included in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.24.21.34, from the Google Play Store.
New Chat Theme Feature
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started beta testing a new custom chat theme feature, allowing users to personalize their conversations. This feature, initially reported in August, is now being rolled out to WhatsApp beta users.
The feature, currently in beta testing, promises to give users more control over their messaging experience.
WhatsApp has been working on chat-specific theme support for a few months, and the good news is that the feature has finally started rolling out. The bad news is that it’s only accessible by those using the Android beta of WhatsApp.
Currently, WhatsApp allows users to choose between the system’s default, light, and dark themes. With the latest update, however, Android users participating in the Google Play Beta Program—beginning with WhatsApp version 2.24.21.34—will gain access to a variety of new customization features, including up to 22 different chat themes and 20 colour options.
Users enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program can expect to access 22 unique themes, each offering up to 20 colour variations. These customizations may allow users to modify both the chat background and the conversations’ colour.
New Tool for Video Calls
Along with the chat theme update, WhatsApp has also improved its video calling features with several new enhancements. Users can now apply filters during calls, including options like Warm, Cool, and Dreamy, adding a touch of creative expression. Additionally, the app has introduced background customization, allowing users to choose from cosy living room settings, beach scenes, or a simple blur for added privacy.

For those concerned about video quality, a new “Touch Up” feature and a “Low Light” mode have been added to enhance the visual experience during video calls, particularly in low-light conditions. Users can easily access these tools during calls by tapping the effects icon, enabling real-time adjustments to their appearance.
While these updates are currently available to beta testers, WhatsApp intends to roll them out to all users in the upcoming weeks.
