WIF announces honorees for 2024 event

WIF, formerly known as Women in film, Los Angeles, has announced the list of leading women who will be honoured at the 2024 WIF Honors event. The event is going to take place on October 24 at the Beverly Hilton, the annual event will center on the theme “The Power of the Collective,” it will celebrate women who have showcased collaboration, inclusion, and impactful storytelling in the entertainment industry. 

The 2024 honorees feature acclaimed actresses and creatives in various fields of the film and television industry. Annette Bening, Kate Winslet, alongside comedian Michelle Buteau, rising star Joey King, director Ellen Kuras, and writer-producer Danielle Sanchez-Witzel for their exceptional work both on screen and behind the camera. 

WIF 2024 honours ‘Collective Power’

Each honoree will receive a specific award recognizing their contributions to the industry. Kate Winslet and Ellen Kuras will be presented with the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Film for their work on the movie “Lee.” Buteau and Sanchez-Witzel will receive the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Television for their collaboration on “Survival of the Thickest.” Bening would be presented with the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award, personally selected by Fonda herself. 

Kerry Washington will be honoured with the Entrepreneur in Entertainment Award, while Joey King will become the 19th recipient of the WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award. The 2024 WIF Honors event will centre around the theme “The Power of the Collective.” This approach intends to celebrate industry leaders who show how collaboration, inclusion, and uplifting stories lead to a positive cultural change.

The WIF CEO Kirsten Schaffer stated, “The 2024 honorees embody the very essence of leadership, creativity and advocacy that WIF has championed for over 50 years.” she further added, “Their remarkable contributions, both on and off screen, are a testament of the progress we continue to make toward a more equitable and inclusive entertainment industry. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and the lasting change they inspire.”

Presentation of the event

This year’s annual benefit will feature opening remarks from Jurnee Smollett, who is a member of the WIF board of directors. The event serves to honor accomplishments while also supporting WIF’s educational and philanthropic initiatives, as well as its ongoing advocacy for gender parity in the entertainment industry. The WIF Honors event is presented by Max Mara, the event also features ShivHans Pictures joining as the Visionary Sponsor, along with support from Amazon MGM Studios, Lexus, Netflix, and STARZ ‘#TakeTheLead’.
