Green houses are the best way  to  become responsible for our carbon footprints that we leave on our planet. Climate change is real and very much affecting our environment. Seasonal changes in the weather have not been seasonal for a while now. Building and living in an Eco-Friendly home (green or sustainable home ) is one of the surest ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

Why Going Green is the Best way of Building Homes :

Many assume building a sustainable home costs more money than traditional living . While it does take a lot of effort and extensive research as it is a holistic approach where we choose all the building materials and design our architecture with the aim of sustainability and minimal waste. A green house can help you save money by reducing the cost of energy consumption up to 30-50 % and water consumption by 30 – 70 %.

 Less Energy Consumption

Eco – Friendly homes are designed in a way that reduces the use of non-renewable energy sources such as coal which is very bad for the environment. With the help of solar panels , they make use of energy from the sun to power the house . And their windows are built in such a manner that enables natural lights to flood the rooms eliminating the need for artificial lighting. Paired with the other building methods , it also decreases the greenhouse effect .

 Low Maintenance and Operations cost

Sustainable homes incorporate natural lighting and use of renewable energy in their designs. This allows vast amounts of power usage to be reduced in lighting systems. Hence , indirectly helps users to save as much as a third of their water and energy bill. By reducing all these bills, eco friendly house becomes relatively easy to maintain them when maintenance can cost as much as 80% of the lifetime costs of a building. They are much cheaper in the long run compared to their non-green counterparts.

     Enhanced Resilience

Green homes are constructed in such a way that can stand strong and be resilient in the face of climate change. They are built to withstand severe weather conditions by incorporating features like hurricane resistant windows , reinforced structure and adding a flexible steel skeleton or fitting a ‘base isolation system’ to separate the building from its foundation.

     Better Indoor Air Quality

Designers of eco – friendly homes usually keep the health of the occupants in mind while designing it. The concept of better indoor quality refers to optimum air and thermal conditions , including natural lighting . So they avoid using toxic materials such as high – VOC paints and Formaldehyde cabins in their designs . Air purifying plants like Chinese evergreens , spider plants , chrysanthemums and broad lady palms are a major part of sustainable homes which automatically cleans the indoor air and produces oxygen.

    Efficient Water Usage

During constructions, sustainable homes aim to save and manage water consumption by incorporating water management techniques like rain water harvesting and installation of plumbing fixtures that are both practical and efficient in reducing water wastage. It also lessens the strain of shared water resources by installing  systems that purify water and enable recycling .

    Green house promotes healthy Environment

The usage of plastics and other non biodegradable components are avoided when building green homes. Raw materials for constructions are usually sources from recycled materials including bricks and doors sourced from old demolished places.  All of this not only reduces the impact of construction on the environment but it also showcases the importance of resource management.

    Green house supports local resources

The increase in population results in the increased pressure on shared local resources such as water and energy. With the help of technologies and processes that support water recycling and energy renewal, the greenhouse reduces the strain from local resources.

Opting to live in an eco-friendly home is the new way forward to battle climate change. It not only reduces our carbon footprint but also improves our general quality of life.
