Yuvraj Goyal: Indian man shot dead in Canada; 4 suspects in custody.

Yuvraj Goyal, a man from Ludhiana, Punjab, was shot dead in Surrey, Canada. The Royal Canadian Police suspects it to be a, ‘targeted shooting’. The motive for the same is yet to be investigated. 

WHO WAS YUVRAJ GOYAL?

Yujvraj came to Canada in 2019, at the age of 28 on a student visa. In recent times, he was able to get Canadian Permanent Resident Status (PR). He used to work as a Sales Executive, with no criminal record.

Back in India, his father runs a firewood business and his mother is a homemaker. 

ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE

The shooting happened on June 7 at 8.46 am. The shooting was reported on the 900 block of 164 Street in Surrey, British Columbia. 

The victim was found dead upon the arrival of the police. Four suspects have been taken into custody with regard to the case and have been charged with first-degree murder. The suspects are Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), Harkirat Jhutty (23), and Keilon Francois (20), from Ontario. 

“Although initial evidence suggests this was a targeted shooting, investigators are working to determine the reason that Mr. Goyal, a 28-year old community member with no history of police contact, was killed,” Sergeant Timothy Pierotti said. 

Yuvraj’s brother-in-law, Bawandeep, told the police that right before the shooting, Yuvraj was on a call with his mother. Where he mentioned returning from the gym and being in his car before the shots were fired.

The homicide unit has asked the citizens in the vicinity to be aware and come forward to the police with any evidence (dash cam recording) or statements concerning the incident or the people involved.
