In his latest book, former President Trump makes the bold assertion that Mark Zuckerberg conspired against him during the 2020 election. Additionally, Trump issues a stark warning of severe repercussions for any unlawful activities during the 2024 election.
In his upcoming book Save America, scheduled to be released on September 3, former US President Donald Trump alleges that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg conspired against him during the 2020 US Presidential Elections. Trump accuses Zuckerberg of deliberate interference, claiming that the Meta CEO had schemed to undermine his campaign during the election.
Trump has frequently alleged that Zuckerberg interfered in the 2020 presidential elections, which Trump lost to US President Joe Biden. It is worth noting that Trump’s comments coincided with Meta’s efforts to reassure conservatives that it would not exert influence on the upcoming campaign.
Trump’s Jab Against Zuckerberg
In his book, former President Trump included a photograph of himself with the Facebook founder at the White House. Below the image, the former President described Zuckerberg as someone who “would come to the Oval Office to see me. He would bring his very nice wife to dinners, be as nice as anyone could be, while always plotting to install shameful Lock Boxes in a true PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT.”
Earlier this year, Trump expressed support for TikTok, saying: “If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck will double their business.”
During his tirade against Zuckerberg, Trump mentioned the $420 million donation made by Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, to support election infrastructure during the 2020 election. Trump said “He told me there was nobody like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me.”
Trump added, “We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time, he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
In a July post on Truth Social, Trump made unsubstantiated allegations against Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg, threatening to pursue election fraudsters at unprecedented levels if elected. He warned that those responsible would be sent to prison for long periods and cautioned Zuckerberg to be careful. He wrote “ELECTION FRAUDSTERS at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods. We already know who you are. DON’T DO IT! ZUCKERBUCKS, be careful!”
Zuckerberg’s apology
Previously, the Republican party has accused Meta of censoring information that could have had a detrimental impact on President Joe Biden’s election campaign in the 2020 presidential race. Additionally, on Monday, Mark Zuckerberg sent a letter to the Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee, admitting that it was an error to suppress articles related to Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden.
In a written statement, he emphasized that Meta has confirmed that the information was not a part of Russian disinformation and acknowledged that the company should not have downplayed the story in hindsight. Additionally, Zuckerberg expressed that the Biden administration had attempted to influence Meta to reduce the visibility of specific content related to COVID-19, which he criticized as inappropriate behaviour by the White House.
Billionaire Elon Musk has announced his alliance with the political circle of former President Trump in preparations for the upcoming elections, while Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has taken a stand to remain neutral and abstain from supporting either President Biden or former President Trump in the 2024 election. Zuckerberg has explicitly expressed his intention to not immerse himself in the forthcoming election and has declared that he will not contribute funds or endorsement before November 5th, which marks the date of the presidential election.
