Aam Aadmi Party releases the second list.

Though the elections are expected to be held in February 2025, Aam Aadmi Party has already published another list, its second in a row which features 20 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections on Monday. The list is a sign of major upheaval with many of the sitting MLAs being dropped and Manish Sisodia being made to contest from Jangpura.

On November 29, AAP issued the first list containing 11 candidates that were finalized during the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of AAP under the chairmanship of party convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Avadh Ojha, an educator and a fresh entrant to AAP, has been fielded from the Patparganj seat where Sisodia contests in the current assembly.

On the second list, Another big name is Rakhi Bidlan, the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly. She will contest for Madipur, instead of her current seat in Mangolpuri, which now goes to Rakesh Jatav Dharamrakshak. 

31 candidates have been announced by the AAP for the elections along with this list. In November, the first list of candidates comprised 11, out of which 6 were leaders brought on board from the BJP and the Congress while 3 sitting MLAs were dropped. 

The PAC meeting was attended by AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal and the final list of candidates was to ensure representative candidates across constituencies.  

The release noted that the women’s wing of AAP was launching extensive outreach campaigns in all 70 constituencies, contacting women voters directly to showcase welfare schemes implemented by the party’s Delhi government.
