China’s “provocative, destabilizing activities” in the South China Sea have the US and Lithuania concerned.

The United States, along with Lithuania, have expressed concerns regarding China’s “continued
provocative, destabilizing, and intimidating activities” in the South China Sea. The statement was
released jointly following the meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and
Lithuanian foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis in Vilinus on September 12.
People from both nations welcomed Lithuania’s concern and their efforts to further strengthen
or robust economic partnership with Taiwan and to further support meaningful participation in
the international forum of Taiwan. The joint statement from Foreign Minister Lands and Deputy Secretary Campbell was released by
 Landsbergis and Campbell. Deputy Secretary Campbell praised Lithuania’s determination to withstand the unwarranted political and economic pressure from the PRC, while Bergis affirmed their continuous corporation to oppose the PRC’s use of economic coercion. The statem
ent also stated that the two parties were concerned about the PRC’s ongoing aggressive, destabil
izing, and intimidating actions in the South China Sea.

The leaders of two countries emphasized how crucial it is to keep peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and stated that they oppose any unilateral attempts to use pressure or force to alter
 the current situation. Both nations are looking forward to continuing the effective and
constructive strategies developed by the US-Lithuania strategic dialogue on the Indo-Pacific.
The leaders of the two countries issued a joint statement in which they voiced unwavering
support for Ukraine in its ongoing confrontation with Russia. They also discussed how China,
North Korea, and Iran contribute to the facilitation of Moscow aggression in the country by
providing diversified assistance for Russia’s defense industrial base. Kurt Campbell and Gabrielius Landsbergis talk about the threat posed by China’s hybrid and malevolent cyber operations to transatlantic security.
 
The joint statement confirmed the strongly denounced Russia’s hybrid attack on all, and it is

The United States stands with our Philippine Allies and condemns China’s aggressive actions. US

crashed into one of its ships close to Sabina Shoal, an island feature in the Spratly Islands. Recent
events have escalated the already-existing tensions between China and the Philippines in the
South China Sea, as both countries accuse one another of provocative behavior. The Philippines
bases its exclusive economic zone on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), while
China asserts its dominance over nearly the entire sea. In July 2016, an international tribunal in
The Hague ruled in favor of the Philippines, invalidating China’s extensive claims. The conflict
revolves around these competing territorial planes.
