 In a major moment for the Indian bar, Justice Sanjiv Khanna was named as the new Chief Justice of India, succeeding his precursor in a decision that sparked interest throughout the legal community. Justice Khanna has an astral career gauging three decades and is known for his integrity and commitment to justice. Justice Khanna was born on August 19, 1961, in Delhi. He got a Bachelorette of trades from St. Stephen’s College and a Bachelorette of Law from the University of Delhi. He began his legal career as an advocate in 1985, soon establishing himself in the Supreme and High Courts, where he was honored for his skill in indigenous law, marketable controversies, and civil rights. 

 Khanna was appointed a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2006, where he ruled over several corner cases and entered recognition for his fair and progressive rulings. His term as a High Court judge was distinguished by fidelity to upholding the rule of law and guarding individual rights, which constantly included conversations on vital subjects such as women’s rights, environmental enterprises, and abecedarian freedoms. Justice Khanna was appointed to India’s Supreme Court in 2019, cementing his position as a judicial eminence. Throughout his judicial career, he has been honored for his rigorous attention to detail, logical approach, and capability to understand complex legal issues. 

 Justice Khanna was appointed as a fresh judge of the Delhi High Court in 2005 and became an endless judge in 2006, marking the launch of his distinguished judicial career. 

 During his term, Justice Khanna made important benefactions to the Delhi Judicial Academy, Delhi International Arbitration Centre, and District Court Mediation Centres, helping to shape the judicial terrain. 

 On January 18, 2019, Justice Khanna was appointed to the Supreme Court without having preliminarily served as Chief Justice of a High Court. 

 Justice Khanna has issued numerous major rulings, including granting temporary release to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This judgment allowed Kejriwal to campaign in the Lok Sabha choices. 

 In another significant decision, Justice Khanna stated that detainments in processes might be a sufficient reason for granting bail under the Prevention of plutocrat Laundering Act( PMLA). This ruling came in a case involving Delhi’s former deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia. 

 As Chief Justice, Justice Khanna is anticipated to concentrate on the pressing challenges facing the Indian bar, including case backlogs and the need for judicial reforms. His appointment comes at a pivotal time when public confidence in the legal system is consummate, and there’s a growing demand for timely justice and translucency.
