Seven suspected Maoists were killed in the South of Abhujmad Jungles of Chhattisgarh in a joint forces operation inclusive of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai relaid this information at a press conference. The operation commenced early Thursday morning, according to sources at 3:00 AM.
As the search operation and the encounter continue, the forces trek ahead into the dense, difficult terrain on the unsurveyed land that falls under the territories of Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada districts.
The operation had started as the forces acted on the information received about the sighting of banned members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), the police said.
The seven recovered bodies were reportedly dressed in the uniform of the People Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), which is an armed extension of the CPI Maoist.
In 2024, the security forces carried out multiple operations in Abhujmad in the ‘Maad Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save Maad Campaign) and more than 100 Maoists were taken down in and around Maad. In October, about 31 Maoists were killed in a major encounter in the South of Abhujmad and a major arsenal of weapons was recovered along with their bodies.
