The BJP would probably serve notices to its members in the Lok Sabha that were missing when the bills related to the’ One Nation One Election’ program were introduced on Tuesday. This includes the likes of Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Giriraj Singh.
The notice will be transferred to the Members of Parliament who have defied the party’s three- line scourge issued before to its Lok Sabha members by the party that instructed them not to remain absent from the preface of the bills in the Lower House of the congress.
Party sources quoted by news agency ANI said it is not known whether those absent had informed the party about their previous engagement or other reason not to come.
The bills,’ The Constitution( One Hundred and Twenty- Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024′ and’ The Union homes Laws( Amendment) Bill, 2024′, calling for monthly choices for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, were introduced in the Lower House on Tuesday by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
What Followed up?
Opposition members challenged the preface of the bill and called for a division. After advancing, 269 members expressed their support for the preface of the bill while 196 opposed it.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the bill was now going to a common Parliamentary Committee for further consideration. He recalled that when the press took up the One Nation, One Election Bill for blessing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated that it should go to the JPC for detailed discussion.
Several other MPs absent from the House include Shantanu Thakur, Jagdambika confidante, in Raghavendra, Vijay Baghel, Udayraje Bhonsale, Jagannath Sarkar, Jayant Kumar Roy, and V Somanna Chintamani Maharaj.
The Consequence
Although it didn’t pose a problem to the party in relation to the preface of the bill, with BJP’s full strength not in attendance, it did give opposition commodities to dwell about.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor stated that while the government had the figures in its favor, it did n’t have enough figures at its disposal to pass the bills. He prompted the government not to press its demand.
While a simple maturity of the members present is enough for introducing bills, a two- third maturity is needed for passing the indigenous amendments introduced under the’ One Nation One Election’ plan.
