Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived in Brazil to attend the G20 summit after his visit to Nigeria. The Prime minister will be taking part in the 19th G20 summit in Brazil.
For the year 2024, the 19th G20 summit is being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Summit is scheduled to be held on November 18 and November 19.
The visit is scheduled for five days in which the Prime Minister will be visiting Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana. Before arriving in Brazil, Prime Minister Modi visited Nigeria on November 17.
About G20 Summit
The G20 or group of 20 is an important inter governmental forum that works on economic issues. The G20 which is a forum on international economic cooperation was founded in the year 1999. It includes countries known as G20 members. The G20 members are 19 counties and the European Union and also the African Union.
The group represents around 85 per cent of the global GDP and comprises about two thirds of the world population. It also represents more than 75 per cent of the global trade.
The G20 was established in 1999 after the Asian financial crisis in 1997. It was established as a forum for the finance ministers and the governors of the central banks to discuss financial issues.
The G20 summit is an annual event and is held every year. The presidency of the forum keeps rotating as there is no permanent secretariat.
The presidency of the G20 keeps rotating on a yearly basis. The presidency for the last G20 summit was held by India and the summit took place in the year 2023. In 2023, the 18th G20 was held in Delhi in September. The event saw discussion on different matters and was held on September 9 and September 10.
The G20 is an important forum that discusses economic issues and it consists of the countries which have large economies.
Highlights of Prime Minister Modi visit to Nigeria
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nigeria on November 17. PM Modi for the first time is visiting Nigeria. On visiting the country the Prime Minister received a warm welcome in Abuja he posted about the welcome in a social media post on platform X.
Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Nigeria also held official talks with the President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu and held discussions.

Moreover, during the visit in Nigeria the Prime Minister also addressed the Indian community which was held in Abuja.
