The T20I world cup Champions team India landed in Delhi at the IGI airport Thursday morning for a breakfast meet with the Prime Minister. Regardless of having tight security, the Indian team was met with enthusiastic and elated fans at the airport. The Indian team was greeted with warm smiles, national flags and extremely excited fans who could not stop cheering and waving at the team.

Virat Kohli was seen to be quite overwhelmed by the response the India team received at the airport early morning.

The Indian Team was supposed to reach India earlier this week but couldn’t due to the hurricane in Barbados. This hurricane -Beryl had led to the shutdown of every airport. A 16 hour non stop special chatter flight was arranged by Jay Shah for the players to come back home.

The World Champions team was then escorted to the ITC Maurya for players to freshen up and later to the PM Residence.

However, the support and celebration was not limited to the airport. The fans showed up in heaps at the hotel as well. The ITC welcomed the Indian team at the hotel with dhol and bhangra dancers. The skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were seen dancing and enjoying themselves celebrating the world cup win. All of the events were a testament to the belief why cricket is considered a religion in India.

The Indian team met with the Prime Minister at his residence to share the happiness and victory. The Prime Minister had also congratulated Team India right after they had won the finals against South Africa.

The Team was seen leaving the PM residence at 1 pm for Delhi airport for mumbai.

T20 World Cup winner – Open Parade

Rohit Sharma and BCCI secretary Jay Shah had taken to twitter a few days ago to inform the fans about the open parades near marine drive and Wankhede Stadium victory lap celebrations. This was a great initiative for the fans to celebrate the world cup victory.

This ought to be a special moment for the Mumbaikar skipper Rohit Sharma. The same celebration had happened back in 2007 when the Indian team under Dhoni captaincy beat pak in the finals of T20.

From his first win in T20 2007 to his last T20 win 2024, life has indeed come full circle for Rohit Sharma.
