In New Delhi, the season of New Year was marked with fiery exchanges as Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deletion of voters and cash distribution in a letter to Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

To this, Delhi BJP chief Virender Sachdeva launched a scathing attack at Arvind Kejriwal for encouraging corruption, and asked him to refrain from making false promises and give an apology for the state of the Yamuna.

Kejriwal wanted to know if the RSS justified the BJP’s “wrongdoing.”

In addition, Kejriwal questioned if the RSS had any sort of approval of the BJP leaders bribing the voters, as well as the rampant removal of Purvanchali and Dalit voters.

Meanwhile, the BJP charged Kejriwal and AAP with providing illegal Rohingya and Bangladesh states in Delhi with documents and money to use them as a vote bank.

Bhartiya Janata Party’s Reply:

BJP’s R. Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that Mr. Kejriwal’s letter to the RSS chief aims to grab “media attention.” “Learn. From the Sangh (RSS); learn the virtue of service and leave your political machinations behind,” said the Rajya MP.

On Sunday, Mr. Kejriwal said that the BJP does not have any vision nor candidates for the Delhi election. “BJP wants to ensure victory somehow in this election through unscrupulous means. But the people of Delhi surely won’t let this happen. We won’t let them win through the allegations of tactics used in Maharashtra and Haryana,” he advised the people of Delhi to keep an eye on the names on the voters’ list.

AAP alleged that BJP had launched ‘Operation Lotus’ within the New Delhi constituency that he represented. “They have, in 15 days, put in applications to delete names of 5,000 voters, besides putting in applications for additions of names of 7,500 voters. The total votes in my constituency stand at 1 lakh 6 thousand. What sense does this election make? The world’s playing out in the name of elections.”

Mr. Kejriwal accused the BJP of planning, in accomplice with some outsiders, to enlist them as voters of Delhi.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva refuted the charges, saying the huge jump in voters in Delhi between the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the Assembly polls next year had been mirrored after the 2019 general election. He asked, “Who brought these new voters on? Answer is not available. They were trying to play the same game this time. BJP is saying those who don’t live in Delhi anymore, those who are dead, why should their names be kept on the list?”

BJP leadership accused the fake documents about which fake names of voters are being entered onto the electoral list.

He also warned the officials against indulging in irregularities under BJP pressure. “I want to tell all the officials that they will be pressured to commit certain acts, but keep this just in mind-you will have to put your signatures on the papers, and those signatures are going to stay. It is today or tomorrow, the government will change, but then the files and the signatures remain. So take your decision lawfully; problems would come for you. The order-givers would escape.”
